Do you feel a kinship with the House of Krug?

Most definitely. The House of Krug is committed to offering the highest quality in every bottle it presents. Honouring heritage and valuing the Krug Lover, each Krug experience speaks to the senses. This is exactly how I approach my Music. Each song or album must translate a story into a sensory experience. I feel connected to the Krug winemakers and identify with the way they start with a blank page for each cuvée and re-create every Édition anew, always raising the bar of what Champagne can be.

What is your ideal moment to enjoy Krug Champagne?

Any moment that is worth sharing. I live by the ocean, so I often have friends over during the summer. The best times are when we get together at sunset, stay outside until late and just enjoying each other’s company. There is no better way to celebrate those moments than with a glass of Krug.

What is your favourite Krug Champagne?

My favourite would have to be Krug Rosé, the most daring, non-conformist of Krug Champagnes. When I first tasted it, I was completely surprised that this Rosé Champagne could replace a good red wine at the table.

A Krug Vintage is a blend of the most expressive wines from a single year, enhanced by a stay of over ten years in the cellars. Every Krug Vintage is different: it is the music of the year, captured by Krug. Krug 2008 is a story of harmonious intensity, complementarity and contrast, nicknamed “Classic Beauty” by the House’s Tasting Committee members.

For Krug, the year 2008 gave birth to a great Krug Champagne balancing structured freshness and diverse flavours. Krug 2008 exhibits both power and elegance with a textured and intense mouthfeel very characteristic of the year’s wines, which uniquely reconciled intensity and quality.

Krug Grande Cuvée 164^ème Édition

Krug Grande Cuvée 164^ème Édition, composed around the harvest of 2008, is a blend of 127 wines from 11 different years, the oldest dating back to the harvest of 1990 and the youngest to that of 2008. To complement the elegant intensity of the year’s harvest and craft the most generous expression of Champagne in 2008, wines from plots in the Montagne de Reims Sud were selected for their freshness, as well as from plots in the Côte des Blancs for their spice and warmth. In all, reserve wines from our vast library comprise 32% of the final blend.

Event in Antwerp, Belgium

On November 30, the Red Fish Factory in Antwerp will welcome Krug Lovers in Belgium to discover Les Créations de 2008 through an immersive experience.

During the event, Belgian 3D music pioneer, artist and composer, Ozark Henry will present his original musical interpretations, or Krug Echoes, of the two Champagnes featured in this unique offer – Krug 2008 and Krug Grand Cuvée 164^ème Edition, crafted following the harvest of 2008.

Guests will also hear from Former Krug Cellar Master & Deputy Director of the House Éric Lebel about the circumstances of the year 2008 and what made it unforgettable for Krug.

To complete the multisensory journey, the House has collaborated with 2-Michelin-starred Krug Ambassade Chef Nick Bril, of The Jane restaurant, to create an exquisite food pairing for everyone in attendance.
