DISCOVER THE STORY BEHIND YOUR BOTTLES
Krug Rosé is everywhere we don’t expect it to be, in terms of texture, colour and taste. It is a remarkable Champagne which encapsulates the same creative spirit of Krug Grande Cuvée, again surpassing the very notion of vintage.
This bottle spent around 7 years in Krug’s cellars developing its particular expression and finesse, receiving its cork in Autumn 2016.
Inspired by the dream of the fifth generation of the House of Krug, to conceive a rosé Champagne that did not yet exist, every Édition of Krug Rosé perpetuates this legacy.
The broad palette of elegant notes in Krug Rosé 22ème Édition is born from a selection of 22 wines, the youngest of which dates back to 2010 and the oldest to 2005. The blend was completed with 9% traditionally macerated Pinot Noir red wine from the year.
Krug Rosé 22ème Édition was composed around the harvest of 2010. A year defined by its tumultuous climate, the grapes nonetheless showed great promise until the cool end to the growing season brought cause for concern. The careful attention given to the vines during this challenging period and Krug’s unique respect for the individual character of each plot proved crucial to ensuring a yield in good health and of ideal maturity.
The year’s Meuniers expressed a beautiful freshness while the Chardonnays were more unctuous. The Pinot Noirs revealed fruit, citrus and finesse. This was the starting point for a flavourful, soft and generous composition, marked by berries but also balance. In order to add the right touch of freshness and a light, youthful tension that would mellow with time, a number of relatively young reserve wines were chosen from the House’s extensive library, making up 47% of the blend. Finally, a red wine from a special plot in Ay imparted an enchanting colour, length and spiciness. This fusion promised to reveal the elegance and verve so characteristic of every Édition of Krug Rosé.
The final composition of this bottle of Krug Rosé is 56% Pinot Noir, 16% Chardonnay and 28% Meunier.
Krug Rosé is the most non-conformist of Krug Champagnes, for bold gastronomic adventures. Combining breadth, depth and grace, it dances a perfect tango with savoury dishes of all kinds, replacing a great red wine at the table with brio.
Krug Rosé is both unexpected and daring. It shows a broad and extensive aromatic palette, unusual for a Rosé Champagne.
As you taste Krug Rosé, you will discover harmonies of puff pastry and red-berry tart, which develop towards honey and citrus fruits.
Its floral accents and notes of dried or stewed fruit will enthral your palate. Its extreme delicacy is enhanced by the subtlety of its fine and elegant bubbles.

A rosé which never plays with a flattering and primary character but enhances the depth and the finesse of a Grand Cru, with an infinite persistence.
