Krug Rosé

A singular rosé champagne, an astonishing balancing act between finesse and substance.

Krug Rosé, a relatively recent addition to the House, is an unexpected rosé Champagne combining distinction and boldness – inspired by the dream of the fifth generation of the House of Krug to conceive a rosé Champagne that did not yet exist. Their vision was that every year a new Édition of Krug Rosé could be created.

The Story of

Krug Rosé

A bottle of Krug Rosé with two glasses

In the 1970s, Rémi and Henri Krug, the fifth generation of the Krug family, succeeded their father at the head of the House. As they travelled to meet with Krug Lovers all over the world, they regularly faced the question “Why does Krug not create a rosé Champagne? If Krug were to create a rosé Champagne, it would be something quite different.”

This sowed the seed of an idea that came to fruition one warm summer’s day during the harvest of 1976, when Henri and his brother finally decided to create a rosé Champagne.

After a number of meticulous tasting sessions, the first Krug Rosé blend was decided upon and was presented to the world six years later, in 1983.

Julie Cavil, Krug Cellar Master
"All Éditions of Krug Grande Cuvée share a myriad of flavours and aromas in which everyone can find something that stirs the emotions. As the years pass, particular aspects of their characters become more accentuated. As they grow, so do their distinctive features. The bonds that connect them are no less strong, their uniqueness is simply affirmed."

JULIE CAVIL

Krug Cellar Master

“Our rosé Champagne had to be very elegant and distinguished – very Krug. What was important above all were the choices regarding the nose and palate – the colour would come as a consequence of these.”
