In the cellar
Krug Collection
Time’s second revelation of Krug Vintage.
To the delight of Krug Lovers around the world, a very limited number of bottles of Krug Vintage are kept in ideal conditions in the House’s cellars. Over time, they continue to develop in maturity, revealing flavours and aromas of astonishing freshness, elegance and finesse.
The Cellar Master and the Tasting Committee take note of these additional facets and depth that have emerged. New flavours surprise whilst old ones have evolved in structure. At that moment, they decide these bottles are ready to receive their cork, to be presented to the world as Krug Collection: the deeper story of a Krug Vintage.

Krug Collection 1985 is the second life of Krug 1985. This Champagne combines richness and intensity, as well as freshness and vitality.
Krug Collection 1985 is a broad, concentrated and deep blend with ample fruit aromas.

A word from
The cellar master

Due to its strong climate, the year 1985 in Champagne left a lasting impression on Henri Krug, president of the Maison from 1977 to 2002.

FOOD PAIRING
White or black truffle soufflé, spicy dishes, as well as sweet and sour Asian chicken, veal or fish can be nice matches for this Champagne.
Excellent combinations also include desserts such as orange pudding, carrot cake or autumn baked fruits with a light sabayon sauce.

TASTING NOTES
Krug Collection 1985 has gained depth and beauty, with an astoundingly velvety deep, golden colour.
Aromas of warm bread fresh from the oven, mild spices and even pepper and wax. On the palate they come together in unctuous, generous opulence with honey and toffee flavours while highlighting delicate, rare flavours of white truffle, as well as perfectly ripened figs and even blackcurrant, bursting with sunshine.
Note:
Serving Temperature
The House of Krug recommends that its Champagnes be served between 9°C and 12°C, as colder temperatures limit the expression of their flavours and aromas.
Note:
The Joseph Glass
In 2011, we partnered with renowned crystalware maker, Riedel, to design a glass that would reveal the fullness of flavours and aromas of Krug champagnes.
Note:
The Influence of Time
All Krug champagnes gain in complexity and patina with the passage of time. We recommend storing them at the same temperature as you intend to serve them, between 9°C and 12°C.

RATINGS
"Fully mature, bronze colour and rather a sluggish bead. Quite a bit of mushrooms and toast on the nose but wonderful freshness on the palate. Great balance. Powerful but not at all sweet. Fully resolved. Very impressive."

RATINGS
"Animated and fresh, this is exotic on the nose and palate, with a finely woven tapestry of ground ginger, chamomile, pineapple pâte de fruit, grilled nut and biscuit flavors. Refined in texture and persistent on the long, truffle-laced finish."
