Krug Rosé is everywhere we don’t expect it to be, in terms of texture, colour and taste. It is a remarkable Champagne which encapsulates the same creative spirit of Krug Grande Cuvée, again surpassing the very notion of vintage.
This magnum spent at least 8 years in Krug's cellars developing its particular expression and elegance, receiving its cork in Spring 2015.
As it is a magnum, we let it rest for even longer, waiting until the Champagne is ready to be enjoyed.
Krug Rosé is inspired by the dream of the fifth generation of the Krug family to conceive a rosé Champagne that did not yet exist, one that could be re-created each year. Every Édition of Krug Rosé perpetuates this legacy.
The broad palette of elegant notes in Krug Rosé 19ème Édition, is born from a selection of 37 wines from 5 different years, the youngest of which dates back to 2006 and the oldest to 2000. It was completed with 10% traditionally macerated Pinot Noir of the year from a very special plot in Ay, which added spiciness, colour and structure.
Krug Rosé 19ème Édition was composed around the harvest of 2006. The year was considered a hot one in Champagne, with extreme highs and 23 days recorded over 30°C. It was a capricious climate that went from dry periods to intense rainfall: in August, 2 months of rain fell in only 2 weeks. Fortunately, the sun returned to complete the ripening period, shining on a beautiful harvest with good levels of maturity. It was a great year for Meunier.
To realise the final creation, a beautiful selection of plots’ wines of the year were blended with reserve wines from expressive plots across 4 other years, including Pinot Noirs from some plots from Montagne de Reims Sud and Les Riceys to add structure, wines from some plots of Meunier from the Vallée de Marne for additional fruit and wines from some plots of Chardonnay from Villers Marmery for freshness.
In all, reserve wines from the House’s extensive library made up 22% of the final blend of this Édition of Krug Rosé.
The final composition of this bottle of Krug Rosé is 59% Pinot Noir, 33% Chardonnay and 8% Meunier.
The most non-conformist of Krug Champagnes, Krug Rosé is for bold gastronomic adventures. Combining breadth, depth and grace, it dances a perfect tango with savoury dishes of all kinds, replacing a good red wine at the table with brio. It can be enjoyed with fois gras, lamb, game, white meat, venison or even dishes with spices.

A rosé which never plays with a flattering and primary character but enhances the depth and the finesse of a Grand Cru, with an infinite persistence.
To get closer to the surprising and festive effect of the Krug Rosé, we wanted to travel in South America with a bossa nova rhythm - and bring a little surprise effect! This music evokes a surprising rhythmic instability, which reflects Krug Rosé's blend of distinction and audacity.
