Krug Rosé is everywhere we don’t expect it to be, in terms of texture, colour and taste. It is a remarkable Champagne which encapsulates the same creative spirit of Krug Grande Cuvée, again surpassing the very notion of vintage.
This bottle spent at least 7 years in Krug's cellars developing its particular expression and elegance, receiving its cork in winter 2010 - 2011.
Inspired by the dream of the fifth generation of the House of Krug to conceive a rosé Champagne that did not yet exist, every year a new Édition of Krug Rosé is created.
The broad palette of elegant notes in Krug Rosé 18ème Édition, is born from a selection of 11 wines , the youngest of which dates back to 2005 and the oldest to 2000. The blend was completed with 9% traditionally macerated Pinot Noir red wine from the year.
Krug Rosé 18ème Édition was composed around the harvest of 2005. It was a year of patience and diligence in which a mild winter was followed by a hot, overcast summer. While the harvest in Champagne officially began on 12th September, every decision at Krug is based on tasting and so the House chose to wait a further week before beginning picking, when the grapes offered their optimal level of expression. The generous yield revealed an exceptional level of freshness.
Upon tasting, the wines of the year - which made up 80% of the final blend - revealed a vibrant character. Especially notable were the Chardonnays from plots in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger for their remarkable notes of fruit and the Pinot Noirs from plots in Mareuil-sur-Ay and Les Riceys for their structure. To complement the different expressions of fruit in the wines of the year, a number of wines were selected from Krug's extensive library of reserve wines. Among them, wines from the year 2000 from plots in Ambonnay and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger on the southern slopes of the Montagne de Reims brought their indulgent fruit character. Finally, a red wine from the House's plot in Ay imparted an enchanting colour, generosity, length and spiciness. This fusion promised to reveal the elegance and verve so characteristic of every Édition of Krug Rosé.
The final composition of this bottle of Krug Rosé is 56% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 14% Meunier.
Krug Rosé is the most non-conformist of Krug Champagnes, for bold gastronomic adventures. Combining breadth, depth and grace, it dances a perfect tango with savoury dishes of all kinds, replacing a great red wine at the table with brio.

Krug Rosé is both unexpected and daring. It shows a broad and extensive aromatic palette, unusual for a Rosé Champagne.

Its floral accents and notes of dried or stewed fruit will enthral your palate. Its extreme delicacy is enhanced by the subtlety of its fine and elegant bubbles.

"The silky texture of this vivid rosé Champagne draped the palate, offering an aromatic panoply of flavors, from pure raspberry and white peach fruit to ground cumin and anise, violet, graphite, spun honey and toasted almond. Delivers a long, mouthwatering finish." – AN

A rosé which never plays with a flattering and primary character but enhances the depth and the finesse of a Grand Cru, with an infinite persistence.
My favourite is Krug Rosé, the most daring, non-conformist of Krug Champagnes. It was a complete surprise to me that a Rosé could ever equal the richness and complexity of a red wine.
Musically the Krug Rosé makes me think of Bella Bartok’s 2d violin concerto, a very demanding, virtuoso piece. Full and opulent, just like Krug Rosé.
