Krug Single Ingredient

30 June, 2020

A cornerstone of Krug's craftsmanship, individuality is the art of understanding that every plot, as one wine, is in itself a single ingredient in Krug Champagnes.

Year after year, the House honours its savoir-faire by inviting Krug Ambassade Chefs to interpret a single ingredient, crafting unexpected recipes to pair with a glass of Krug Grande Cuvée or Krug Rosé.

World of Craft is our shared story and tribute to the creativity that arises from constraints placed upon us. Through it, Krug celebrates 5 years of Single Ingredients, passion, pleasure and limitless innovation by inviting the community to get creative. It is a chance to bring together Krug Lovers and friends around the world, and encourage new and exciting ways to connect with each other and enjoy a shared moment over a glass of Krug.
While it is easier to make a good Champagne after a beautiful year, we are most creative after a challenging one that pushes us to play with our imagination and consider things in a different way, focusing on our intimate understanding of the fundamentals of Champagne’s terroirs: one plot, one wine, one character.

Potato, Egg, Mushroom, Fish & Pepper

Humble ingredients, limitless possibilities.

The annual Single Ingredient journey began in 2015 with the potato and was followed by the egg and mushroom in 2016 and 2017. In 2018, for Krug x Fish, a group of Chefs came together in Mallorca where they embarked on an early morning fishing expedition as a way to truly connect with their ingredient and stimulate their creativity. The following year, 13 Chefs ventured to Oaxaca in Mexico, birthplace of the Pepper, where they experience this ingredient from soil to market to plate, learning about Zapotec culinary traditions and sharing insights with each other from their own countries. Their experiences have been captured in amazing videos, photos and interviews that will now be revisited from a new point of view.
