For millennia, craftsmen have worked in harmony with the Earth, finding ways to express its uniqueness through an intrinsic connection with the primal elements, for the true spirit of craftsmanship is born at the source. A cornerstone of Krug’s savoir faire, individuality is the art of understanding that every plot of vines, as one wine, is in itself a single ingredient.

In January, Cellar Master Éric Lebel accompanied 13 Krug Ambassade Chefs from 12 different countries as they embarked on an unconventional journey to Mexico, birthplace of this year’s beguiling single ingredient, the pepper. Together they experience it from soil to market to plate in Krug’s most diverse culinary exploration yet, where unbridled creativity gives rise to delectable dishes from amuse-bouche to street food, starter, main and even dessert – all crafted to pair beautifully with a glass of Krug Grande Cuvée or Krug Rosé.
Éric and the Chefs share this unforgettable adventure, as the stems of a humble shrub become those of an everlasting bond between likeminded Krug Lovers. They echo the nonconformist approach and uncompromising commitment to quality of the House’s founder, Joseph Krug, whose dream was to offer the fullest expression of Champagne, every year, regardless of variations in climate.
