About the Krug Lover
Gabriele Del Carlo, named Italy’s Best Sommelier in 2011 and 2017, leads the wine programme at Le Royal Monceau – Raffles Paris with a vision drawing on simplicity, technical knowledge, and generosity. Overseeing a 700-label wine list, he and his team embody a straightforward and friendly style, aiming to provide a moment of discovery and delight through wine experiences and pairings that elicit joy.

Who is the person you admire most and why?
The person I admire most is my wife, for the path she is taking in the world of luxury hotels, thanks to her exceptional human qualities, her integrity, and her commitment to always being irreproachable.
What are your sources of inspiration?
My source of inspiration remains the Enoteca Pinchiorri in Florence. The vision of this great man and the director, Alessandro Tomberli, has had a real impact on the person I am today.
What is your greatest achievement?
I think my greatest achievement has been to make a real contribution to the promotion and discovery of fine Italian wines in Paris.
How would you describe yourself in three words?
I am generous, sunny and a bit crazy.
What qualities do you value most in another person?
Straight talk, loyalty and not taking yourself too seriously.
What makes you a Krug Lover?
The love for this bubble, always soft and precise, and the desire to share it with the people I cherish.
What is your favourite Krug food pairing?
A lovely plate of langoustines, raw, with just a few drops of great olive oil, salt and pepper, accompanied by a glass of Krug Grande Cuvée.
