Nestled in the heart of historic Paris, in the 6th arrondissement opposite the Luxembourg Gardens and the Senate, just a stone’s throw from Place de l’Odéon and the Panthéon, La Cave du Sénat offers a selection of more than 500 wines from Champagne, Bordeaux, Burgundy, Languedoc, Rhône, Loire, Jura, Savoie, Alsace, and the Southwest.
About the Krug Lover
A Parisian with roots in Nièvre, Antoine Ménager made a career change at 30 to join the family adventure with Les Caves Duval & Blanchet. As manager of La Cave du Sénat, he is at your service to introduce you to his favourites, his preferred winemakers, and to guide you in food and wine pairings. At La Cave du Sénat, the expression ‘My wine merchant’ takes on its full meaning. The team at La Cave du Sénat believes wine is a pleasure and strives every day to ensure it remains so.
How would you describe your culinary philosophy?
A wise palate has an appreciation for bitterness.
Who is the person you admire most and why?
I admire General de Gaulle for defending and restoring France’s independence, as well as for his vision.
What is your greatest achievement?
Changing careers to become a wine merchant – I previously worked in human resources for a bank.
What qualities do you value most in another person?
Honesty and authenticity.
Where are you when you feel the happiest?
In a winemaker’s underground cellar, with mushrooms growing on the walls!
Why do you love Krug?
I love the finesse, elegance, style, and the hint of bitterness on the finish of a glass of Krug Grande Cuvée.
When was your most recent sip of Krug?
Last week, I enjoyed a glass of Krug 2000 with beautiful flavours—deliciously complex.
