About the Krug Lover
Loïc Chavasse Frette, Sommelier for the Evian Resort and a Krug Lover since 2018, has shaped his path between Grenoble, birthplace of Chartreuse, and his 22 years spent in the Chablais region. Recognised for the remarkable evolution of his wine list, he champions an approach guided by terroir, a sense of transmission, and passion. His work naturally complements the signature creations of Les Fresques, inspired by sustainability, excellence, and emotion.
Who is the person you admire most and why?
In my profession, I need escape and sport. Nature and open spaces are part of that. Returning to the mountains of the Chablais to practise ultra-trail running is my passion. I particularly admire elite athlete François d’Haene, who, like Maison Krug, often begins where others stop.
What are your sources of inspiration?
My greatest source of inspiration is my team at work. They are the ones who contribute ideas for developing the cellars of the Evian Resort. Then, being alone in nature—running, sweating, having time to think without interruption, it’s precious.
What is your idea of pleasure?
Something very simple that puts a smile on your face.
What is your greatest achievement?
Not work-related, I would say finishing my first 100 miles (178 km) ultra-trail in the Jura not so long ago. It showed me that with perseverance, anything is possible in both life and work.
Where are you when you feel the happiest?
With family, with friends, in the mountains, by Lake Geneva, among the vineyards of Marin… So many places and people that make life joyful. Accompanied by a glass of Krug, it becomes the ultimate experience.
What is your favourite Krug food pairing?
Wild sea bream, a cube of scallop, Buddha’s hand citrus and notes of citrus, paired with Krug Grande Cuvée 172ème Édition.
