About the Krug Lover

Jin-hyuk Kim is the chef-owner of Alla Prima in Seoul. Born in Seoul and raised in its suburbs, he developed a deep passion for Japanese cuisine, leading him to spend five years in Japan refining his skills and gaining invaluable experience.

In just one year after opening, Alla Prima was awarded one Michelin star, and two years later, it proudly earned its second Michelin star. Chef Kim’s culinary philosophy revolves around seasonal ingredients, continuously exploring different genres, techniques, and flavours to push the boundaries of innovation.

Since 2022, he has served as a Krug Ambassade Chef, finding great joy in showcasing pairings between Krug and a variety of dishes

What is your current culinary obsession?

To create an environment where all restaurant staff can immerse themselves in their work while genuinely enjoying what they do.

How would you define your cooking style?

As a chef, I continuously explore my own unique style, drawing on the expertise and insights I have gained from experiencing a wide range of culinary genres.

What is your idea of pleasure?

When you achieve something and realise that the time spent in the process seemed so short, as if it passed in the blink of an eye.

What is the greatest lesson you have learnt in or outside the kitchen?

To cultivate an efficient and rational mindset that acknowledges the finiteness of time, maintains balanced focus, and embraces harmony.

What is your greatest achievement?

Throughout my life, I have experienced both crises and joyful moments, but above all, I am deeply grateful for simply being healthy and living each day without major troubles.

What makes you a Krug Lover?

I have enjoyed various champagnes over the years, but my love for Krug has deepened even further since becoming a Krug Ambassade.
