From Offstage to Onstage:

A Sensorial Immersion

In honour of Les Créations de 2008, the House of Krug collaborated with Manvsmachine (MVM), an experimental electronic jazz trio in Hong Kong to create a unique Krug Echoes journey both onstage and behind the scenes. The events, which took place on October 25 and 26 in Hong Kong, explored the concept, “What Takes Place Backstage Prepares Us for the Experience Onstage”. Through an initial offstage experience, guests discovered Krug's craftsmanship live from the House, and later delighted in MVM's onstage musical interpretations of Les Créations de 2008: Krug 2008 & Krug Grande Cuvée 164^ème Édition. The multisensory immersion was followed by a food experience by a Krug Ambassade in Hong Kong.

About Manvsmachine

MVM is an experimental electronic jazz trio formed in 2019 by producer and sound designer Hirsk, drummer Blue Kwok, and pianist Daniel Chu. While the members of MVM are eloquent in the languages of classical and jazz, and take part in production of pop music, they also have a taste for experimental avant-garde sounds and are keen to break boundaries between genres.

Meet the band

The Producer and the Sound Designer

Hirsk is a producer and live electronic musician born and raised in Hong Kong, and a graduate of the Electronic Production and Design program at the Berklee College of Music. Known for creating music filled with unique and inspiring soundscapes, Hirsk was invited to participate at the 2017 Pop Kultur Festival in Berlin, Ear Up Incubation in 2018 in Hong Kong and Frameworks Festival 2019 in Munich. Since returning to Hong Kong, Hirsk actively collaborates with a diverse range of artists including the following renown local artists such as Serrini, Gin Lee, Chow Yiu Fai, CY Leo, etc.

The Drummer

Hong Kong based drummer, Blue Kwok Graduated from The Collective School Music in New York. His passion for experimental, electronic and jazz music has paved his way to the formation of MVM. Apart from the live music performances of MVM, Blue participates in different shows, such as Chilled Steps in TaiKwun. Blue Kwok also collaborates with other members to produce commercial music and soundtracks for different media.

The Pianist

Daniel Chu is a Hong Kong musician, composer and producer trained in classical music who is now committed to integrating various avant-garde styles and exploring different music genres, cultures and performance techniques. He has worked with musicians ranging from both International and reputable local pop queens to independent artists. Inspired by the British Ethnomusicologist John Blacking, Daniel Chu hopes to promote experimental music as a “Humanly organised sound” - giving a more meaningful idea for the music that he loves.
