The Art of
Enjoying Krug

Joseph Krug believed the true essence of champagne is pleasure itself. There are no rules governing the pleasure of how to enjoy a glass of Krug champagne, as everyone will experience it in their own personal way. Nevertheless, there are several ways you can enhance your tasting experience, such as by serving it in an appropriate glass, at the right temperature.

STORING AND SERVING YOUR BOTTLE OF KRUG
All bottles of Krug will gain in complexity and patina with the passage of time. Should you wish to cellar your bottle, ideally do so at a constant temperature between 9 and 12°C, protected from light, shocks and vibrations, in an environment with a constant humidity of around 80%. We recommend our champagnes be served between 9 and 12°C, as colder temperatures limit the expression of their flavours and aromas.
See our advice for serving and storing your bottle of Krug.

The JOSEPH GLASS
In 2011, we partnered with renowned crystalware maker, Riedel, to design a glass that would most generously reveal the fullness of flavours and aromas of Krug Grande Cuvée. The result is the Joseph glass, named after the Maison’s founder.

The Krug Rosé Glass
Also designed for Krug by Riedel, the Krug Rosé glass maximises the tasting experience of Krug Rosé, allowing its surprising character to be fully revealed. A fan-like form with subtle undulations provides an increased surface area, thereby enhancing the perception of the flavours and aromas within it.
If a Joseph or Krug Rosé glass is not available, we recommend using a white Burgundy wine glass rather than a flute, as the latter can restrict the champagne’s aromatic expression.

Music
Pairings

Maison Krug has long understood the influence of sound on taste perception, applying the notion of food pairing to music.
To enhance the experience of its champagnes, today Krug presents music pairings crafted by a worldwide community of artists, as it continues to foster creative encounters.

FOOD
PAIRINGS

Each year we pay tribute to a humble single ingredient from the culinary world, in a playful homage to our craftsmanship.
We then invite our global community of Krug Ambassade Chefs to unleash their creativity upon it by creating unexpected recipes to pair with a glass of Krug Grande Cuvée or Krug Rosé.
KRUG'S FOOD PAIRING PHILOSOPHY
Krug champagne can be enjoyed and shared in an infinite variety of ways, depending on individual taste and the mood of the moment.
Krug can be beautifully complemented by different cuisines: classic gourmet cuisine, of course, but also local or regional cooking such as mortadella, tapas or even pizza, and exotic or spicy dishes from Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Moroccan, even Indian recipes. Within these possibilities, you may prefer to seek harmony or contrast, as these are the two main types of combination into which any Krug champagne will readily enter.
While the possibilities are endless, avoiding a few pitfalls will enhance your tasting experience: recipes with excessive acidity, bitterness, sweetness or cold will hinder your palate’s ability to perceive the fullness of flavours and aromas in a glass of Krug.
