The House of Krug has long sensed that a link existed between sound and taste perception. Appreciators of fine wine and music understand the joy of savouring Krug Champagne while listening to a harmoniously paired score and how such an experience allows one to travel down direct pathways to the emotions. Krug Encounters explore, in new ways, the multisensory experience that arises when Krug meets Music.
Creating a new Édition each year takes a very musical approach at the House of Krug, with Cellar Master Éric Lebel likened to a great composer. Every year, one creation, one blend, one bottling and thus one new Édition of Krug Grande Cuvée, the fullest expression of Champagne, comes to life. Krug Grande Cuvée 166ème Édition is a blend of 140 wines from 13 different years. The youngest is from 2010, while the oldest dates back to 1996. It is a living embodiment of the dream of the founder, Joseph Krug, and truly expresses the House’s raison d’être.
Echoing how the wine from each individual plot functions like a single ingredient to the Chef, every year, the House explores an extraordinary, versatile single ingredient. This year, the House of Krug stimulates the curiosity and talent of Krug Ambassade Chefs around the fish, 2018’s single ingredient. The result is a series of imaginative and audacious dishes to enhance the tasting of Krug Grande Cuvée and Krug Rosé.
