The story of Krug Rosé dates back to 1976. With Joseph’s non-conformist spirit at heart, the 5th generation of the Krug family crafted a new composition, an unexpected rosé inspired by the Maison’s reputed art of blending.
Thus, the first Édition of Krug Rosé, a singular champagne achieving an astonishing balancing act between finesse and substance, came to be. Each year, Maison Krug presents a new Édition of Krug Rosé.
A masterful blend of white base wines to bestow elegance, fruit notes and great freshness, completed with traditionally macerated Pinot Noir red wines to add structure and spice.

Composed around the harvest of 2017, Krug Rosé 29ème Édition is a blend of 29 wines from 5 different years, the youngest from 2017, and the oldest from 2010.
In all, reserve wines from the Maison’s extensive library made up 33% of the final blend of this Édition of Krug Rosé.
The final composition of this Édition of Krug Rosé is 53% Pinot Noir, including 11% traditionally macerated Pinot Noir wines of the final blend, 28% Chardonnay and 19% Meunier.

Krug Rosé 29ème Édition combines the generous fruit flavours of 2017 with the elegance of reserve wines from four past years, completed with traditionally macerated Pinot Noir red wines from two plots and years: Les Crayons in Mutigny in 2017 and Côte Valnon in Aÿ in 2016.

Part 2

TASTING NOTES
At first sight, a deep salmon hue with coppery highlights.
On the nose, aromas of red fruit salad, raspberries, strawberries, juicy cherries and toasty notes.
On the palate, fruit combines with pastry notes of raspberry charlotte and ladyfingers. Flavours move from the sumptuous, jammy notes of dried plums to the fresh, elegant citrus fruits such as blood orange.
A finish with elegant bitters of pink grapefruit.

FOOD PAIRINGS
Krug Rosé can replace a good red wine at the table and best accompanies savoury, flavourful dishes such as game or spicy recipes. It is not recommended with desserts unless they are not sweet at all.
Krug Rosé may be enjoyed with gastronomic recipes such as a wild boar tenderloin or charred cauliflower tacos with romesco salsa, as well as simple pleasures like grilled sardines and vegetable and jalapeño quiche.

Serving Temperature
The House of Krug recommends that its Champagnes be served between 9°C and 12°C, as colder temperatures limit the expression of their flavours and aromas.

The Influence of Time
All Krug champagnes gain in complexity and patina with the passage of time. We recommend storing them at the same temperature as you intend to serve them, between 9°C and 12°C.
