The cellar master
Krug Rosé 21ème Édition was composed around the harvest of 2008. Following a mild winter, overcast spring and cool summer, there was concern over the maturation of the grapes, further compounded by a severe hailstorm that hit the village of Sainte-Gemme, reputed for its plots of Meunier. But in mid-September, the clouds miraculously parted and favourable conditions lasted throughout the harvest, which gave us grapes in excellent health and with a good level of maturity.
Julie Cavil, Krug cellar master
The year's Chardonnay wines revealed an unusual suppleness and expression of fruit, while the Pinot Noirs were characterful and bold, with a lively finish. As feared, the hailstorm did indeed leave its mark on the Meuniers. Fortunately, Krug's extensive library of reserve wines held a number of Meuniers from different years, a selection of which lent their vibrant notes of fruit and tension to the blend. Pinot Noirs from plots in Ambonnay, Mareuil-sur-Ay and Ay enhanced its body and expression with their intense fruit character. Finally, a red wine from the House's plot in Ay imparted an enchanting colour, length and spiciness. This fusion promised to reveal the elegance and verve so characteristic of every Édition of Krug Rosé.

FOOD PAIRINGS
Krug Rosé can also be enjoyed with foie gras, lamb, game, white meat, venison or even dishes with spices. Krug Rosé is not recommended for desserts, unless they are not sweet at all. Unexpectedly, it best accompanies very savoury dishes.
TASTING NOTES
On the nose, aromas of rose hips, cured ham, mulberries, redcurrant, peony, pepper and pink grapefruit.
On the palate, delicate flavours of honey, citrus and dried fruit with a long finish, enhanced by its fine bubbles complete the experience.
