A word from

The cellar master

Julie Cavil, Krug Cellar Master
Krug Rosé 20ème Édition was composed around the harvest of 2007. A year that defied all possible predictions, the extremes of 2007 pushed us to rethink everything we thought we knew. We had to challenge ourselves, to look with fresh eyes at what each individual plot of vines could give us. The early harvest revealed grapes with powerful aromas and discreet flavours. Ultimately, the wines of the year made up 68% of the final blend, bringing a joyful balance of tonicity and fresh fruit. The reserve wines added diversity, length and character.

Finally, a red wine from the House's plot in Ay imparted an enchanting colour, length and spiciness. This fusion promised to reveal the elegance and verve so characteristic of every Édition of Krug Rosé.

Krug Rosé is the most non-conformist of Krug Champagnes, for bold gastronomic adventures. Combining breadth, depth and grace, it dances a perfect tango with savoury dishes of all kinds, replacing a good red wine at the table with brio.

Time in cellar:

This magnum spent 8 years in Krug's cellars developing its particular expression and finesse, receiving its cork in Spring 2016.

FOOD PAIRINGS

Krug Rosé lends itself to pairing ideas outside the box. For example, when it accompanies very good quality anchovies, a magical encounter occurs. The saltiness of the fish sublimes the fruit aromas and silkiness of the Champagne, turning the anchovies into a velvet sensation.

Krug Rosé can also be enjoyed with foie gras, lamb, game, white meat, venison or even dishes with spices. Krug Rosé is not recommended for desserts, unless they are not sweet at all. Unexpectedly, it best accompanies very savoury dishes.

TASTING NOTES

At first sight, its subtle pale pink colour holds a promise of elegance.

On the nose, aromas of rose hips, cured ham, mulberries, redcurrant, peony, pepper and pink grapefruit.

On the palate, delicate flavours of honey, citrus and dried fruit with a long finish, enhanced by its fine bubbles complete the experience.

Note:

Serving Temperature

The House of Krug recommends that its Champagnes be served between 9°C and 12°C, as colder temperatures limit the expression of their flavours and aromas.
Note:

The Krug Rosé Glass

To design a glass that would allow Krug Rosé’s singularly elegant and nonconformist character to be fully discovered, the House of Krug joined forces, once more, with master glassmaker Riedel.
Note:

The Influence of Time

All Krug champagnes gain in complexity and patina with the passage of time. We recommend storing them at the same temperature as you intend to serve them, between 9°C and 12°C.
