Krug Rosé is everywhere we don’t expect it to be, in terms of texture, colour and taste. It is a remarkable Champagne which encapsulates the same creative spirit of Krug Grande Cuvée, again surpassing the very notion of vintage.
This Magnum spent at least 9 years in Krug's cellars developing its particular expression and elegance, receiving its cork in Spring 2013.
As it is a magnum, we let it rest for even longer, waiting until the Champagne is ready to be enjoyed.
Inspired by the dream of the fifth generation of the House of Krug to conceive a rosé Champagne that did not yet exist, every year a new Édition of Krug Rosé is created.
The broad palette of elegant notes in Krug Rosé 17ème Édition, is born from a selection of 23 wines, the youngest of which dates back to and the oldest to . The blend was completed with 10% traditionally macerated Pinot Noir red wine from the year.
Krug Rosé 17ème Édition was composed around the harvest of . With beautiful weather in harvest time from mid-September to early October, was a generous year after the challenging extremes of 2003. Nature's elation afforded a breadth of choice and when harvest time arrived the grapes were in very good condition.
When the time came to taste the wines of the year, the Meuniers revealed vivacity, tension and citrus notes, while the Pinot Noirs showed a beautiful structure. But it was the Chardonnays, especially those from plots in Trépail, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize and Oger, that particularly stood out for their remarkable freshness.
To balance and complement the fresh notes of fruit in the chosen wines of the year, a careful selection of reserve wines from the House's extensive library make up 47% of the blend. Preeminent among them are wines of 2003, particularly those from Pinot Noir plots in Ay and Verzenay, which brought their radiance, generosity and more mature expression of fruit. Chardonnays from the late 1990s from plots in Avize, Oger and Villers-Marmery lent their distinctive grace. Finally, a red wine from the House's plot in Ay imparted an enchanting colour, length and spiciness. This fusion promised to reveal the elegance and verve so characteristic of every Édition of Krug Rosé.
The final composition of this bottle of Krug Rosé is 27% Pinot Noir, 43% Chardonnay and 30% Meunier.
Krug Rosé is the most non-conformist of Krug Champagnes, for bold gastronomic adventures. Combining breadth, depth and grace, it dances a perfect tango with savoury dishes of all kinds, replacing a great red wine at the table with brio.
Krug Rosé is both unexpected and daring. It shows a broad and extensive aromatic palette, unusual for a Rosé Champagne.
As you taste Krug Rosé, you will discover harmonies of puff pastry and red-berry tart, which develop towards honey and citrus fruits.
Its floral accents and notes of dried or stewed fruit will enthral your palate. Its extreme delicacy is enhanced by the subtlety of its fine and elegant bubbles.

Wine Spectator 2015
A rosé which never plays with a flattering and primary character but enhances the depth and the finesse of a Grand Cru, with an infinite persistence.
