Three immersive events, three spellbinding locations and three extraordinary Chefs. From fishing day trips and aperitifs at sea, to a Japanese Ikejime Masterclass, to a seaside lunch, each Krug Encounter paid homage to this year’s single ingredient with an unexpected musical component.

A Forgotten Instrument

Music pairings brought past to present as Thomas Bloch performed on the ondes martenot, accompanied by Dimitri Vassilakis and Caroline Ehret. The “musical waves” went spectacularly with the sea and gave a modern twist to this retro symphonic instrument.

Guests discovered the many facets of Krug Champagnes with inspiring fish recipes and musical scores intended to enhance the tasting experience of Krug Grande Cuvée 166ème Édition, Krug 2004 and Krug Rosé 21ème Édition.

Two Lunches and a Dinner

In Bordeaux, Chef Julien Lefèbvre of Cordeillan Bages welcomed visitors by cooking live a four-course lunch including his interpretations of John Dory and sole, which was served on the terrace of Château de Cordeillan Bages. In Paris, Chef David Toutain, at his eponymous restaurant in the 7th arondissement crafted a dinner menu around the fish following an Ikejime Masterclass earlier in the day. In St. Jean Cap Ferrat, after a meet-and-greet with a local fisherman, Chef Yoric Tièche of the Grand Hôtel du Cap Ferrat explored different expressions of the John Dory, which guests enjoyed at lunchtime on the hotel terrace overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
