Executive Chef Chris Whitmore started his career as Sous Chef at Gordon Ramsay’s Maze in London, standing by Jason when he received his first Michelin star. He was then appointed Senior Sous Chef at the 3-Michelin-starred Gordon Ramsay Restaurant. Early in his career, Chris witnessed how much can be achieved with drive and passion as well as the unflinching desire for perfection. From then on, he strived to reach new heights with this recipe of success.

Since 2012, Chris has worked as Opening Chef for the Jason Atherton Restaurant Group, creating exceptional concepts and growing together with Jason. He was part of the opening team of both 22 Ships and Ham & Sherry in Hong Kong. When asked about the culinary direction at Aberdeen Street Social, he commented, “We wanted to bring Hong Kong a taste of traditional British cooking methods presented in a modern way, using globally sourced premium ingredients to create exceptional British fare.”

How would you describe your culinary philosophy?

Don’t mess around with nature too much and make the best of the ingredients you work with.

What is your culinary obsession?

Cleanliness – in the kitchen and beyond.

What was the most memorable meal you either cooked or ate?

Lunch at Paul Bocuse – it was incredible.

Which hens lay the most interesting eggs?

It’s not a hen, but I love quail’s eggs. They are a bit richer in taste and look far more delicate in a dish.

What does the area that your restaurant is situated in bring to the food you serve?

Aberdeen Street Social is located in Soho, which means we often see businessmen and professionals dining at the restaurant. We strive to always use the best ingredients and cook with the highest standards, ensuring our dishes meet their refined taste.

If you could sit next to anyone from history at a dinner table and share a glass of Krug, who would that be?

My father.

For you, which musical work best expresses the emotions felt when tasting Krug Grande Cuvée?

Dirty dancing.

Which came first? The chicken or the egg?

The egg, it’s a fact of evolution that a reptile layed an egg which contained the first feathered animal…regardless they are both key ingredients that I enjoy cooking with.
