Krug Clos d'Ambonnay Rosé 2008
Maison Krug’s unique craftsmanship has revealed a rare champagne from a remarkable terroir, the Clos d’Ambonnay.
Located in the heart of Ambonnay, one of the most distinguished villages for Pinot Noir in Champagne, this tiny walled plot of 0.68 hectare (1.68 acres) has been a darling cru for Krug since its origin.
Krug Clos d'Ambonnay Rosé is made from 100% Pinot Noir from the same walled vineyard Clos d’Ambonnay, composed of 85% vinified as a white wine and 15% traditionally macerated red wine.
A word from
The cellar master
We could not resist the temptation to listen to the fruit and experiment with a red wine. Just this once, just because climate circumstances were right, just because the tasting commanded us.
Julie Cavil, Krug cellar master
TASTING NOTES
Distinguished and expressive on the nose with explosive and generous notes of pastry such as strawberry tart, almond paste, dried and candied fruits, hazelnuts, and raisins.
On the palate, mouthwatering, with great breadth and vibrancy, opening with unctuous notes of frangipane cream, flambéed crêpe Suzette and panettone with glacé fruit. Deliciously bitter flavours of freshly cut and roasted orange ensue, with nuances of kumquat, which succumb to the freshness of redcurrant and meld into infinite length.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Krug Clos d’Ambonnay Rosé 2008 can be enjoyed with gastronomic recipes such as braised lamb shank in tomato and red wine sauce or chicory salad with pecorino and anchovies, as well as simple pleasures like roast chicken with olives and potatoes or linguine with artichoke hearts and garlic.

THE EXPRESSIONS OF CLOS D'AMBONNAY IN 2008
In 2008, the pinot noir grapes of Krug’s Clos d’Ambonnay revealed unparalleled, beautifully contrasting profiles. Tempted by the fruit, Krug’s Tasting Committee created both a Blanc de Noirs champagne – Krug Clos d’Ambonnay 2008 – and, the first of its kind for Maison Krug, a Rosé de Noirs champagne – Krug Clos d’Ambonnay Rosé 2008. Two distinctive expressions of the intensity of pinot noir from Clos d’Ambonnay in 2008.
