Krug 2013 is fragrant citrus on a silver platter.

A cold and rainy start to the growing season delayed flowering. Summer sunshine pushed the vines to develop the fruits, but maturation was still slow. The autumnal harvest took place from September 25 to October 16, yielding superb chardonnay alongside structured yet restrained pinot noirs and meuniers with great length.

To tell the story of 2013, a selection of Pinot Noir plots’ wines constitutes almost half (41%) of the blend, imparting beautiful structure and magnificent balance, while Chardonnay plots’ wines (38%), most affected by the heat spikes, imbue ripe and juicy fruit aromas, and Meuniers (21%) add a wonderful freshness with elegant bitters.

Time in cellar:

This bottle spent around 11 years in Krug's cellars developing its expression and elegance, receiving its cork in Winter 2023-2024.

TASTING NOTES

On the nose, Krug 2013 opens with lemon and bitter orange notes that give way to aromas of candied citrus, toasted almonds, and honey. On the palate, Krug 2013 is direct and precise, dominated by the freshness of citrus in all its forms. Carried by notes of lemon, blood orange, grapefruit and tangerine, its ample structure and mouthfeel unfold with remarkable intensity and length.

FOOD PAIRING

Krug 2013 will be a delightful pairing for seafood dishes, such as sea bass ceviche infused with ginger and lemongrass, or creamy pasta topped with sea urchin. Additionally, this Vintage beautifully complements fresh goat cheese with candied citrus, or any other rich, unctuous cheese.

Note:

Serving Temperature

The House of Krug recommends that its Champagnes be served between 9°C and 12°C, as colder temperatures limit the expression of their flavours and aromas.
Note:

The Joseph Glass

In 2011, we partnered with renowned crystalware maker, Riedel, to design a glass that would reveal the fullness of flavours and aromas of Krug champagnes.
Note:

The Influence of Time

All Krug champagnes gain in complexity and patina with the passage of time. We recommend storing them at the same temperature as you intend to serve them, between 9°C and 12°C.
