Older wines from the 2000s add a patina of elegance, roundness and generosity to the final blend.

About the Harvest of 2017:
A year that started cold until early clement weather awakened the wines prematurely. The region suffered 20% fruit loss from spring frosts and heavy summer downpours. Dry and hot weather saved the remaining grapes for harvest, which took place from 25 August to 15 September.
The Final Blend:
The heterogeneity of the plots in 2017 was reflected in the tasting room with very nice expressions but sometimes also a certain inconsistency and rusticity. The selection of reserve wines brings elegance with 2014 and 2011 Chardonnays, or racy 2000s Pinot Noirs. It also offers structure with Montagne de Reims Nord and very straight 2016 Meunier.
Time in cellar:
This bottle spent around 7 years in Krug's cellars developing its generosity and elegance, receiving its cork in Winter 2023-2024.
Tasting Notes
Expressive, fragrant and powerful on the nose with aromas of toast and brioche, stone fruit, verbena, vanilla pastry cream, French toast and baba au rhum.
On the palate, this champagne is unctuous, creamy and generous, expressing flavours aligned with the nose. Nuances of juicy fruits, peach in syrup and ripe citrus give way to encaustic, toasted notes and pine nut. A generous and precise mouthfeel with a crisp, mouthwatering lemon finish calls for another sip.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It pairs beautifully with simple pleasures like aged parmesan, Jabugo ham and mature comté, but also oysters, or asparagus roasted with garlic butter. Gastronomic options include Moroccan hake chermoula or tarte tatin.

A very limited number of these bottles have been carefully kept in the Krug cellars, awaiting their chance to be rediscovered. This rare case, “A Tribute to Time” is an opportunity to experience time’s precious influence on Krug Grande Cuvée.
