Can you explain the Music Pairings you have composed for each Krug Champagne?
La Célébration is a full bodied symphonic musical experience. It starts with a driving rhythm inspired by the unique sound of riddling (bottle turning) in the Krug cellars. The rhythm is paired with simple, crisp and clean orchestral sounds creating a certain intimacy. It continuously builds with playful and carefully balanced symphonic textures, symbolizing the complex art of blending the three grape varieties and reserve wines - all resulting in a cheerful and explosive climax. It is a celebration of the senses.
What role does Music play in your life?
We’ve been surrounded by music all our lives. Whether as a consumer or creator of music – music has always been connecting the dots between a setting, stories, sensations and atmosphere.
How would you describe yourselves in three words?
Passionate, detail-driven, lovers-of-life.
What makes you Krug Lovers?
It’s the passion and attention to detail that we love about Krug. The work of a Cellar Master and a film music composer are very similar: both strive to create the most generous expression, a symphony composed of individualities.
Can you describe your first sip of Krug?
It was in Tokyo. We were invited by one of Japan’s leading creatives to an outstanding restaurant where the Chef only cooked for only 3 tables per service. The evening started and ended with an exceptional glass of Krug Grande Cuvée 170ème Édition.
When was your most recent sip of Krug?
Our last sip of Krug was after the amazing live recording of our Krug Echo “La Célébration”. A beautiful concert hall, the vibrant symphonic orchestra Musikkollegium Winterthur and our music coming to life – a wonderful moment to celebrate with a glass of Krug Grande Cuvée.
